What Happens After You Order: Delivery and Installation Timeline

Placing your order is the first step, not the last one. Between checkout and your first session, your sauna moves through processing, freight delivery, inspection, and either assembly or placement.

How long that takes, and how much of it falls to you, depends on the model. Some saunas arrive as kits you assemble on site. Others arrive fully built and are handled entirely by freight equipment. Knowing which kind you ordered, and what the freight carrier will and will not do, prevents a difficult moment at the curb.

Step 1: Your Order Is Confirmed and Handed to the Carrier

You receive an order confirmation right away. Orders placed before 2:00 PM ET are processed within two to three business days, excluding weekends and holidays.2

From there, the shipping company generally picks up the shipment within three business days and provides a tracking number.1 Free curbside freight delivery on oversized items typically takes about eight days from the point shipping begins, though this is a general estimate and can vary by product and destination.2

Step 2: Know What the Carrier Will and Will Not Do

A sauna does not arrive like a normal package. Large orders ship freight, usually on a pallet, and delivery is curbside only.

Two details matter more than most customers expect. First, the transportation company cannot enter your yard or the sauna itself. This is a liability rule on the carrier's side, not a My Sauna Plus policy, and it holds regardless of how the delivery is scheduled.1 Second, an adult needs to be home to receive the shipment.1

Some carriers schedule a specific appointment window and require a signature. Others provide only an estimated delivery date with no set window, in which case a signature is usually not required, though being present to inspect the delivery is still worth doing.2

Moving the shipment from the curb into your home or backyard is your responsibility. We recommend having at least two people available to help, and white glove or in-home delivery is not included unless arranged separately.2 If you expect the delivery truck to have difficulty accessing your property, tell us when you place the order.

Step 3: Inspect the Shipment Before You Sign

Do not rush the inspection.

If you see visible damage, such as a crushed pallet, a torn crate, or wet packaging, refuse the delivery and have the driver note the damage on the Proof of Delivery paperwork before they leave. Keep a copy for your records.3

Some damage is not visible until you unpack the components. If you discover concealed damage after the driver leaves, photograph it and email a description to our team. You have five calendar days from the delivery date to report it. After that window, the shipper's insurance on the claim expires, so reporting promptly matters.2 3

Once everything looks intact, unpack methodically and check that all components are present before starting assembly. Smaller parts are sometimes packed inside larger pieces, so do not assume something is missing until you have checked the full packing list.

Step 4: Know How Your Sauna Will Arrive

Not every sauna arrives the same way, and that difference changes what delivery day actually looks like.

Kits Built for On-Site Assembly

Many saunas ship as kits with prefabricated wall and ceiling panels. The SaunaLife Model X2, for example, is built for what its manufacturer describes as simple DIY installation, estimated at four to six hours with two people.4 Its installation manual is more specific: it requires at least two people, and states that the sauna should be installed by a professional installer.5 Treat the marketed assembly time as a starting estimate rather than a guarantee, and confirm the installer requirement for your specific model before delivery day.

Fully Assembled Units

Other saunas ship complete. The SaunaLife Model G6, for example, is not a kit. It ships fully assembled and requires a forklift or crane to be offloaded from the truck.6 For a sauna like this, the real planning question is not assembly time, it is whether your delivery site can accommodate the equipment needed to unload and position it.

Check your specific model's product page or manual before delivery day rather than assuming either scenario.

Step 5: Assembly, Placement, and Electrical Work

Once the sauna is on site, installation is typically customer-assembled, following the detailed instructions included with the sauna. A second person is recommended, and total assembly time generally runs two to six hours depending on the model. Some customers choose to hire a local handyman instead of assembling it themselves.1

Electrical work is a separate task from physical assembly, and it is not something to plan around your own timeline. Any electrical connection needs to be completed by a certified electrician, following the applicable code, regardless of how straightforward the room assembly is.5

If your project also involves an outdoor placement, confirm any HOA or permit requirements before delivery. Approval timelines for these can run anywhere from about two weeks to three months, and can affect where a sauna is allowed to sit or whether it is allowed at all.1

What Can Push Installation Past Delivery Day

A sauna can arrive exactly on schedule and still not be ready to use that day. The most common causes are an installation site that is not prepared, electrical work that has not been scheduled, a component that turns out to be damaged or missing, or a fully assembled unit that needs equipment the site cannot accommodate.

Checking these against your specific model before delivery day is the simplest way to avoid a stalled project.

Delivered, Installed, and Ready to Use Are Three Different Milestones

It helps to think of the process as three separate points, not one delivery date.

Delivered: the sauna has arrived at the curb and been inspected.

Installed: the room has been assembled or positioned in its final location.

Ready to use: any required electrical work has been completed and signed off.

For a straightforward kit on a prepared site, these can happen within the same day or two. For a fully assembled unit, or a project that also needs an electrician, they are more likely to fall on separate days.
